BENUE GUBER: IDOMA PDP CAUCUS,
ASPIRANTS DEBUNK ALLEGED TRIMMING DOWN OF ASPIRANT
Political
stakeholders of Benue south Zone have frowned at the Sponsored publication
alleging that the caucus of the peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area has
trimmed down the number of aspirant to vie for Governorship seat of the State.
The
said selected aspirant include; the incumbent deputy governor, Chief Steven
Lawani, Barr. Paul Harris Ogbole, former EFCC member and Dr. Mathias Oyigeya,
erstwhile Medical Director, Federal Medical Center Makurdi.
But in a swift reaction to the
publication, former Minister for State, Niger Delta, Dr. Sam Ode in a press
statement signed by his Media Director, Lawrence Okwe pointed accusing fingers
at fifth columnist who have vowed to destabilize the aspiration of the Idoma
people to produce the next Governor of the State in 2015.
Dr.
Ode noted that the party caucus had met on September 27, 2014 at Otukpo and
mandated as the aspirants from the zone to work together for common goal ahead
of the party primaries, adding that he remains committed to a prosperous and
united Benue
Similarly, a member of the PDP board
of trustee as well as Caucus and leader of the party in Benue South Senatorial
Zone, General Geoffrey Elija (rtd) has refuted the publication saying that as
the leader of the Caucus such decision was never taken at the said meeting.
Eliga who spoke in a telephone conversation
with journalist on Tuesday, 7th October 2014 said the caucus of the
party only met and resolved that a further meeting to be held trim down the
number of aspirant from the Zone but added that such meeting was yet to hold.
In
the same vein, one of the aspirant jostling for the position,
Dr.
Mrs. Roseline Ada change condemned the report, describing it as a tissue of
lies, claiming that the publications a sponsored attempt at reducing her ever
growing profile to emerge the PDP Candidate in the primaries slated for November
29, 2014.
Change
maintained that no such maintained that no such meeting was held, nothing that
it was shocking to see in the national paper that some aspirant have been
chosen.
The only female aspirant in the race for the PDP
ticket said she is contesting for the
position in order to turn around the socio-economic as well as the educational,
health agriculture potentials of the States
The
run of 2015 governorship election in Benue State has thrown up a huge interest
as the predominant Idoma speaking tribes of the southern senatorial zone have
continued to insist that the position should be zoned to the area because they
have never occupied the position before since the creation of the State.
Five aspirants from the Zone have indicated
interest in the race for the PDP ticket. They include; Dr. Sam Ode,Engr. Mrs.
Roseline Ada Chenge, Chief Steven Lawani, Barrister Paul Ogbole and Dr. Mathias
Oyigeya.
